As pop culture madness takes a break from Jeremiah Wright and embraces Iron Man, I thought it would be fun to show you what OLD men like me celebrated when we were little kids. Forget Downey...this was the real Tony Stark, 1966 (voiced by the late John Vernon, aka "Dean Wormer" from Animal House).

Wow Chris! You just keep 'em coming. Another blast from the past. I am too young to remember the Iron Man cartoon vividly, but I do remember this opening sequence, and the theme song. I am not a big fan of Superhero movies, but I really like Robert Downey, Jr. as an actor. I hope the movie does well.
Curse you for reminding me of my age.
That guy (Dean Wormer) was a pretty good actor. He was pretty broken up that people only remembered him for Animal House. He played Castro in Alfred Hitchcock's Topaz, and the villian in The Outlaw Josie Wales (he was nominated for best supporting actor in SAG and Golden Globes for that one). Yes he was also Namor the Submariner's voice in those old Marvel cartoons as well.

Will "War Machine" be in Uptown?
WTF? This is almost quaint!
That's a true blast from the past! I took my boys to see it at Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood and they've got the suit Robert Downey Jr. wore in the film on display. My kids (and my husband) all went CRAZY!
