If it bleeds it leads. Breathless subject matter means oxygen deprivation for the brain. I was in journalism long before I was in law, and what the media have become is simply sickening. I was recently talking to an old friend who is still in j-world, and he was going on about First Amendment press protections. I asked him, "When was the last time a US outlet released news that required First Amendment protection?" He started to toss a few things out, and I said, "No, I said 'news,' not 'porn' or 'artistic expression'." He started to get flustered, and I said, "When you come up with something since the Pentagon Papers 40 years ago, get back to me." He hasn't yet.
