No duh, Reverend

NEW YORK - The Rev. Al Sharpton denounced Paris Hilton's release from jail on Thursday, saying it had "all of the appearances of economic and racial favoritism."
"I think that it's both another glaring display of how race and money seem to get different treatments. There seems to be a different criminal justice system for some than others," Sharpton said.

Now, even the douches at Fox News and the right wing bloggers can't find fault with this. And indeed, they are REMARKABLE in their support! To-wit: John Gibson, as big a piece of dog stool as is on Fox, said:

"Al Sharpton is right. Today when Paris Hilton got sprung from jail 20 days early — from a sentence that was just half of what was originally imposed — the story turned out to be that Paris' shrink went to the jailers and said she was about to have a nervous breakdown. So they let her go home early with an ankle bracelet. Sharpton immediately said there may have been racism involved here. Look, when he's right he's right. No matter what you think of Rev. Al, it is hard to imagine that anywhere in America a black woman is getting out of jail today because her shrink says she's about to have a nervous breakdown. He says it wouldn't happen, and I agree. It shouldn't happen either. It shouldn't happen with "little miss just anybody," whether she's African-American or white or Asian or Hispanic or anything. And it shouldn't have happened with Paris Hilton."

Story is, her family foundation made a sizeable donation as a de facto fine (bribe?) to LA County. How this engenders respect for the law, decent behavior, I don't know. But I expected the county to keep her locked up at least for appearances-sake. I guess I can scratch my Scooter Libby-Bill Jefferson post, below. Guess the folk who say leave Bill alone, or leave Mike Vick and Tank alone and look at that cracker Tom Brady, are wagging their big greazy kielbasa-like fingers at me.

On a non-related note, look for my interview with Cora Daniels, author of Ghetto Nation, coming up. And in July: excerpts from my novels coming out in 2008...inteviews with folks you DON'T see in Essence but wish you did...tips from REAL authors...oh, and yes, more YouTube goodies...

You are a little late because apparently they just announced she has to go back to court on Friday. We can only hope that public outcry has forced the system to common sense.

Nabila J is correct. Paris is going back to court. Thank GOD! I hope the judge has reconsidered and will put this little slut back in jail where she belongs. This whole situation is disgusting. She broke the law and violated her probation!! The fact that she was released early screams not only racisim, but it sends the message that if you are privileged, you can get around the system. Sad and disgusting. If anything, she is one person who should be in jail for at least six months. I am sick and tired of seeing her stupid face everywhere. She contributes nothing to society and that is sad. With her family's resources, she could be doing so much more if she were smart. Hopefully, the final outcome will be that several years down the line she will finally grow up and become a productive member of society.

i read that she wasn't eating the jailhouse food, so they sent her home with an ankle bracelet to serve out her sentence.

this news should be sickening, but her skinny ass ain't worth the effort! *smile*

What is equally as criminal is that the taxpayers of California have to spend their money on this crap.

But let's face it...it keeps Paris in the spotlight and therefore in the public eye. And She's loving it!

There are women jailbirds in there with HIV, who are pregnant and of course many of them have mental/emotional problems. They are serving their sentences and they send them to secure prison wings of hospitals if they are sick. I'm not buying her antics.

I have mixed feelings about this.

On the one hand, we can have Paris sit in jail, refusing food, and banging her tin cup on the door. Tangled hair leading to mats because they would not allow her to have a brush in the cell. This in itself could lead to a new reality show: "Brainless Rich White Chicks in Jail" next season.

On the other hand, with Paris sent home with an ankle bracelet, we have the real chance that she'll get picked up by the police drunk, outside some club, at one in the morning. They'll search her house and find her ankle bracelet strapped to an illegal Mexican cleaning lady, locked in a broom closet. That would keep E! TV and others buzzing for months, plus we would get Paris back in the can, and the reality TV show.

To use a phrase you once recalled to me, "you have to give some, to get some."

Indespensible got me going. That he's right!

But what disturbs me is the publicity that will fuel the cockroaches in Hollwood to push her now even further as a model and reality television star. Any exposure is good exposure to these people.
