Barack plays it Cool...

I'm a fan of Fred Armisen but not his characterization of the Prez (Lorne Michaels hates black people...he doesn't want another Eddie Murphy). However, this is funny. Indeed, might even be the most realistic portrayal of the 44th President yet. Wingnuts on Fox, radio, Pajamas Media take note. He's ...coooooooool....

I don't think right wingers care about how cool he is. They will lie or amplify nonsense and take "coolness" bet it real or comedy, as weakness.

OMG. This is great!

I agree with Anon 944am that it will be taken by fools as weakness, but they are fools and cool always triumphs!

I have always felt that Fred Armisen is a very funny and creative character-comic. He does a passable job as Barack Obama but it was mostly as foil to the other characters in these political parodies. But new he has to stand on his own and that's hard. Darrell Hammond is a real impersonator, Fred isn't. It's time they find a real black actor for this.

Still, this one clip is one of the better ones. "Instead of a banner..."

This has been all over the Internet and most sites are positive about it. Fred Armisen will still be replaced.

Actually, Eddie Murphy never worked for Lorne Michaels. He was under Dick Ebersol's regime. I can't think of ANY black person who made it big after Lorne's SNL unless he was already somewhat known beforehand, like Chris Rock.

SoCal 82Tiger Says:

Soooo.... What about Tracy Morgan??? Or is he somehow a Sellout To The Man because he not "cool" and works as a tool for Tina Fey and her boss L.M. on 30 Rock???

I'd be more inclined to say that there was/is not much parodying of Obama by Armisen at SNL because: 1) Obama never made a public misstep to parody; and 2) Most of the writers at SNL (whom I suspect are not of color) were/are afraid to attempt a comedic parody for fear of a vitriolic backlash from their brethren in the media.

Hell I can't be the only one to notice the man-crush Obberman and Mathews and many others have on "their guy"???
