Coming Tomorrow!

My conveyances of thanks, hope and joy for Thanksgiving...NOT!
Stay tuned.
Oh, and an older person claiming to be my father wanted to know why the themes to "Bonanza" and "77 Sunset Strip" and "Dragnet" and "Peter Gunn" weren't among the final nominees in the TV show poll. While the Peter Gunn theme, Bonanza and arguably the first eight notes of Dragnet are iconic, the songs needed at least three votes from my blue ribbon nomination panel (the panel did NOT vote in the final poll, by the way) and the songs didn't make it to the final dozen or so. Would it have made any difference? The bruhs and nubian queens loved Good Times!
And so...all you denizens of the former Cabrini Green--sing a-long:

Just lookin' outta the window
Watchin' the asphalt grow
Thinkin' how it all looks hand-me-down

Keepin' your head above water
Makin' a wave when you can
Temporary lay offs Good Times
Easy credit rip-offs Good Times
Scratchin' and survivin' Good Times
Standin' in the chow line Good Times
Ain't we lucky we got 'em?

Good Times

Seems pretty timely, still eh? I heard this was Dick Cheney's favorite song, too...

Hey you reverse-racist! You didn't nominated "The Dick Van Dyke Show" song! ;-)

P.S. I hear Quentin Tarantino is thinking of doing Hawaii Five-O for the big screen. That would be a m-f!!! And you know he'd keep the original Ventures theme song and not have some rapper or Third Eye Blind butcher it!!!

You're going to post on the Quill Awards tomorrow, aren't you! No black writers nominated or winning, and serves us right, correct? I smell it in the wind, coming like a thunderstorm...

Are you frying a turkey?

Happy Thanksgiving (what ever that means to Americans in 2007, it is anyone's guess these days).

"Clearly the perennial Mr. Charlie/Missy Ann favorites--The Ballad of Gilligan's Island..."

Come on, man. Branford Marsalis recorded "Gilligan's Isle" on his 1991 album "The Beautyful Ones are Not Yet Born." Have you heard it?

The title is borrowed from Ayi Kwei Armah's (no, not the cat who did "Read a Book," that's "D'Mite" Armah) Ghanaian novel of the same name which a thousand saxophonists read because of him. Summary: "The central story in this book tells of an upright man resisting the temptations of easy bribes and easy satisfactions and winning for his honesty nothing but scorn."

Have you read it? Hmm.

Ayi Kwei Armah's book is a novel or collection of stories?

Kitty: nope--my sister is roasting the old fashioned way. We're in N.C., however, home of turkey frying. Things always have to be fried down south. However, I bought two gi-normous cakes from the Amish market outside of DC. One for me, one for everyone else.
