My boy the Field Negro recently laid it out there, as I did on Facebook and everyone got deathly quiet, even squeamish. Note that Kobe, Pacman, Tank et all...even Vick, that cretin Plaxico "Dirty Harry" Burress--all didn't get the benefit of the doubt. All got slammed before any disposition of their cases. All vilified. But a white Superbowl QB...one who has a reality show owned by ESPN and ABC's parent...well. I guess Brett Favre has sullied the image of the white superstar pocket protected QB enough once you get beyond Mr. Gisele Bundchen's utterly p-whipped persona. No, we can't have that.
Such is our fully vertically and horizontally integrated corporate media at work. And doing so, as with the stupid coverage of Skip Gates and the Cambridge cops, to the continued censorship & intellectual peril of us all.
As for newsworthyness, as a commenter stated: "Nothing imparts a sense of urgency more than a black penis invading a white vagina."
Here's an NFL video of what Big Ben has to say. Too bad Gates no such largesse from good white folks...
LOL So much for the "post racial" crowd singing and hugging and proclaiming racism at an end hahaha.
Nat - I love it when you decide to act in the role of the provocateur...NOBODY makes a better lightening rod or presents a better case to shake people into thinking for a second time about what they hold and believe is true...
With that said – The posting of your last few rants are starting to remind of the old accountants saying - Figures sure don't lie but liars sure do figure...
"Mr. Gisele." I love it. He certainly took hits for that!
I think it's perfectly understandable to stand back and say "Huh?" when you look at ESPN and ABC, with the added element of a reality show. Even Kobe who gets TOO SOFT treatment from the media, had his story broken and dissected well before anyone knew what was up in Colorado, or that this nasty stuff was "consensual."
I also agree that this post racial stuff is something concocted to make people feel good and mask the historical feelings. It is your flipside Nat Turner--the want of an "apology" to WHITE PEOPLE by many conservatives. It is related to the need to keep this man a hero. Please understand that I am not a football fan so I have no opinion on Pittsburgh at all.
As a writer yr view on Sarah Palin’s resignation speech?
According with Vanity Fair:
…Just how poorly constructed was the governor’s holiday-weekend address?
If you watched Sarah Palin’s resignation speech, you know one thing: her high-priced speechwriters moved back to the Beltway long ago. Just how poorly constructed was the governor’s holiday-weekend address? We asked V.F.’s red-pencil-wielding executive literary editor, , together with representatives from the and departments, to whip it into publishable shape. Here is the colorful result.

I am learning English. it is useful to me, i hate grammar, i learn by reading, it is stupid yeah, but i am lazy.
Pasted here from my post @ J&JPolitics.
Ok I'll take the bait on your invitation
First; I’ll make an obligatory attempt to try and get beyond silly charges of preconceived racial bias that are so easily thrown about on your site – Not that it may matter to anyone but I think that:
· The American Left is guilty of a blinding fantasy love affair with yesterday’s communist and today’s socialist, while Eastern Europe and most of the rest of the world secretly love the post WWII USA, and loathe what we’ve become today:
· Oswald acted alone and Steven King Did Not Kill John Lennon.
· We really did land on the moon.
· Iron Mike didn’t rape Ms Washington, Teddy’s nephew got away with it, and while Kobe also didn't rape the white girl, it still cost him an 8-carat "rape rock".
· OJ is double murderer.
· Al Qaida did it: It was not an "inside job", and EVERYBODY "knew" Iraq was guilty of having WMD's.
· Shoeless Joe and Charlie Hustle were guilty of betting on baseball BUT they should still be in the HOF.
· Vick is guilty of abusing his role as trustee and caretaker of “lesser creatures” on this earth – Creatures whose only purpose is to live (and in his case die) to please a twisted master.
· Manny, A-Rod, Clemens, McGuire, Sosa, Bonds, Flo-Jo, Armstrong, and a host of others broke the rules and are guilty of “juicing” their way to victory and glory. Mr. Madoff and Mr. Allen are guilty of ripping off well to do people looking for an edge to get “something from nothing”. President Obama is a US citizen, but is guilty of having lousy choices with his friends, donors, and spiritual and personal advisors.
· Professor Gates is the guilty of being an incredibly smart man acting "stupidly" while Rodney King was guilty of being an ignorant drunk man likewise acting “stupidly”
Second, as to any person who is getting the “benefit of doubt” – My God you’re talking about the Court of Public Opinion! In that court WHO CARES what you, I, or anyone else says or thinks about any of these sad sacks before they were (or were not) put on trial in a real court????
The fact is many if not most of them either got off or received reduced sentences from the charges that they were facing and that says it all – That white, black, brown, yellow, or red are not the colors that matters - BUT GREEN SURE THE HELL DOES!!!
Lastly – What happened to NTR - You know that edgy blog that’s out to take a fresh new look at American History, Life, Art and Pop-Culture? As much has you have been the consistent stirrer of the pot, your rant topics often tend to rehash the same old cliché topics that people always argue about….
I hope this is not the future... Please tell me you not going to put all that fine wit and blogging energy towards rants against only Fox Republican Wing-nuts, Racist Hillbillies & Rednecks, The Military Warrior Culture, People of Faith, and the Cabal of Greedy Corporations & Bankers… You know if you throw in a few digs at the Zionists, Cap, Cottage, Ivy, Skull & Bones, and Tri-Lateralist you’ll have all your clichéd boogey men/women groups covered!!!
@ Anonymous from 9:38 PM
Not that it is needed.
i believe the post is about double standard.
Since WHEN journalists = Court of Public Opinion!?
Re: Ochyming 6:33pm -
The Media IS the Cheerleader for the Court of Public Opinion -
They decide how report it, comment on it, and package it for maximum consumption….
Now more than ever this has become the operating business model of "reporting news" - In today's world news now has to report, entertain, get ratings and make money. Just watch the Network 3, Fox, CNBC, & CNN and you can’t help but notice they are all more like Inside Edition, Extra, and TMZ. Ed Murrow is rolling in his grave
It’s no news to report that our friends in the 3rd Estate both positively and negatively inform us AND sway the opinions on how we feel or think about almost every story…
@Anonymous from 2:34 PM
Westerns pocket is the magnetic north of the west politics and economics, which means polarization, where the majority (with more money/influence) WIN [often].
I think news agency, most of them direct themselves to a demographic (people taken for granted), reason why they do not try hard to honor their profession.
Now internet is used mostly for marketing/ads by news agency.
If you try not to reach a certain group, you strictly roll the news, otherwise balance your own opinion with views from others.
The post i think refers to this laziness (otherwise Mr. Nat say so.), news agency DO know (really?) their demographic.
First, I saw your Facebook link on the Phillies fans--the middle aged white guys--who got drunk and murdered that poor guy? I guess that's too embarassing to cover extensively.
I love that acronym:
What a bunch of clowns! That is not sports journalism but then again what IS these days?
I'm troubled by the Gates scenario, and yes, I do see linkage though I am but a poor unworthy Irish Catholic. I grew up with the Crowleys of the world, Nat Turner. Crowley should have backed down. He's the professional, and he had all of the discretion. It's not like they didn't let Gates go.
But we can't let the uppity guy loose, right? That, plus frankly I think one of these right wing clowns (Anonymous poster? hehehe)
got to him and of course we white people do not like to be made to look bad. That is why some high school graduate is elevated over a Harvard professor.
Finally, that last line really pushed me on the floor gasping for air. "Nothing imparts a since of urgency for than a black penis invading a white vagina." HA!
Re Ochyming -
I do not think we are too far apart in our thoughts...
Perhaps I just see Media in ALL its forms (News, Opinion, & Entertainment) as often working to manipulate what people hear, how they hear it, and how we the people should feel, think, and respond about what they are feeding us...
Two articles Very related to this post.
… Yet on Henry Louis Gates Jr.
Christopher Hitchens on Henry Louis Gates’s arrest:
It is the U.S. Constitution, and not some competitive agglomeration of communities or constituencies, that makes a citizen the sovereign of his own home and privacy. There is absolutely no legal requirement to be polite in the defense of this right. And such rights cannot be negotiated away over beer.
I think that is true, but in a unfair world, the right thing to do depends on many things.
… Also an addendum [kinda]…
‘Humans Prefer Cockiness to Expertise’
From New Scientist:
The research, by Don Moore of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, shows that we prefer advice from a confident source, even to the point that we are willing to forgive a poor track record. Moore argues that in competitive situations, this can drive those offering advice to increasingly exaggerate how sure they are.
This might be the best explanation of how someone like, say, Rob Enderle continues to be quoted as an expert regarding issues on which he is almost always completely wrong.
