And yet another mirror...Bill Maher?

Bill Maher is a douchebag(or is it scumbag?), but at least he admits it. And sometimes, not often, he hits things right on the nose. This is from his HBO show this week. Now, if you want to annotate this hilarious solo with a socio-economic-political history of the US from the Revolution to the election of 1800 (Jefferson becomes Prez over Adams...also on HBO!), to Jackson, to the rise of the Know-Nothings to 1860 to the death of Recontruction to the pre-emption of the Populists to the death of the Frontier and the election of 1898 to on and on...whew...go back to college. But, for the quick and dirty as of 2008, regard (and advance to about 2 minutes in if you want the bare, nitty gritty):

Calling Bill Maher a douchbag is giving him too much credit, but you're right. He nailed it.

Bravo Bill! I saw that show Thursday. It underscores the awful situation that Hillary has created and the upshot--that Barack cannot yet use a tough whitboy or chick to carry his water. He can't say these things or else he's an arrogant know it all negro like Bryant Gumbel and you know how white folks thought Byrant was "too arrogant" for The Today Show. Interestingly Al Roker was in the crosshairs when he came out against Imus in the Rutgers matter!

But tell me--didn't Cornell West look absolutely crazy? OK, so what else is new, but day-um!!!

The other guest who wrote "Infidel" is another one of these authors who Fox News says supports their world view, but she was unloading on Bush, religious evangelicals in the USA, those polygamists wasn't she?

Nobody cares what people like you think. Are you "Princeton" too. Now go ahead and call me a racist.

Chris, I take exception to your notion that Bill Maher doesn't hit things on the nose often - he's one of the few who isn't afraid to tackle issues. I don't share his POV on everything, but I do know that when I watch his show, he won't let you come on there and spew the BS party-line rhetoric. He will call you out in a hurry.

He is an enigma. He dicks around on the Pope but is right on the money with these comments. Maybe we are all too stupid to just sit back and relax?
